Contextualizing fashion I final : Reimagining Bloomers

Bloomers in womenswear were first introduced in Victorian times as cycle wear. They gave women a newfound sense of mobility and freedom that was very rare at the time. My goal was to contextualize the old fashioned use of bloomers as activewear in a modern sense, while bringing in nostalgia and references to athletic wear throughout history. In this modern context, Citi Bikes are used by all genders, no matter what you’re wearing. They represent cycling as transportation that anyone can use and have access to.
